Flowmeters

The flow or flowmeter is installed in-line and accurately measures the displaced volume. Together with the flow computer, it forms the heart of the measuring line. Correct sizing is essential and depends on the application (such as blending, batching or inventory management), the working flow rate and the pressure. Depending on the liquid, different types are available, such as PD, turbine, mass flow rate or ultrasonic meters.

Advantages:

  • Accurate and reliable measurement of a variety of liquids

  • Low pressure loss

  • Long service life, even with intensive use

In the ports of Antwerp-Bruges and Rotterdam, a bunker measurement system has become mandatory for ship-to-ship (STS) bunkering, both for bunker boats and ships. DCM EMBA offers a high-quality, customized solution for this purpose. With the combination of the accurate Elite flowmeter and Emerson's processing system, users benefit from reliable bunker data, real-time graphs and comprehensive reporting. The system is user-friendly, efficient and complies with all local and international regulations. In addition, it guarantees a long service life and maximum transparency in the bunkering process.

Onboard flowcomputers

The flow computer is the brain of the measurement system. Based on input from flow and temperature meters, it controls the control valve, making the unloading process precise and controlled. Both the Sening MultiFlow and the MultiTask are suitable for a variety of applications.

Advantages:

  • Compact all-in-one system with touchscreen display

  • Fast, pump-free unloading through dipstick measurement

FAQ

What is the difference between volume measurement and liquid height measurement on a transport truck?

Volume measurement is done through a certified flow meter during unloading and is suitable for transactions. Height measurement via dipsticks is convenient for monitoring.

What are the advantages of having a bunker measurement system on board?

An onboard measurement system prevents discussions, speeds up administrative processing, and is required by ISO 22192 in certain ports as of 2026. It also allows on-board blending, saving costs and time.
